Learn To Walk in Redemption

Psalm 65:3

“Iniquities prevail against me, as for our transgression, you will provide atonement for them.”

Sin is the greatest barrier between men and God. God cannot hear you when there is sin in your life.

When iniquities prevail against you in the New Testament, it shows that you have not learnt to walk in the redemption that belongs to you.

The atonement God provided for our transgressions is our Savior Jesus Christ.

Isaiah 53:6

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”

That is why Paul in Romans 6:14 says:

“Sin shall not rule over you anymore because you are under the grace of God.”

Even under the old covenant, David knew the blessedness of God’s grace—he says in Psalm 32:1, “Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven whose sin is covered.”

David walked in the consciousness of that. As long as you walk with the remembrance of your sin, you can never grow in grace and stand before God. The righteousness that God gives to you is the ability to stand in the presence of God as though you had never sinned. A son always has a consciousness of his sonship. It is an in-born thing. He does not keep reminding the father or himself of that fact; he simply takes the place of the son with confidence.

You are to do the same. You did not make yourself righteous. You do not have to feel righteous or righteousness. Many people begin to get condemned and cannot stand before problems if they do not pray in the morning.

The fact that a son does not greet his father in the morning does not stop him from remaining his son. Let men put it this way: It does not take from him his sense of sonship.

Likewise, PRAYER IS NOT WHAT MAKES YOU RIGHTEOUS! RIGHTEOUSNESS AND YOUR UNDERSTANDING OF IT MAKE YOU ABLE TO PRAY MORE EFFECTIVELY.

Now, your prayer makes power available. When you learn to walk in the light of your righteousness, your prayer becomes powerful and effective; that is the message of James 5:16. Many have thought that prayer comes first. No. The man is first righteous, and his knowing and acting on this fact makes his prayer effective and full of power.

A righteous man is a man who knows he is a son of God and walks into the place of prayer, knowing that it is so. That is what the redemption of Christ brought.

Romans 3:21-26 (NIV)

“But now apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood – to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness because, in his forbearance, he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished – he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus.
